The Greater Gila region of southwest New Mexico and southeast Arizona, home to America’s first designated Wilderness, is the convergence of five unique ecosystems with unparalleled biodiversity in the continental United States.

Right now, the Greater Gila is threatened by an onslaught of massive, new mining proposals, dams and diversions, ongoing grazing damage, and other extractive uses. These threats, coupled with climate change and the extinction crisis, put the Greater Gila in grave danger.
