Bring transparency to Legacy Roads and Trails project selections

Please send a letter urging the Forest Service to bring transparency to its Legacy Roads and Trails Program.

This program directs funding toward restoration activities on National Forest lands to restore fish passages, decommission unneeded roads, and stormproof other roads and trails for resilience to extreme weather.

In determining how funding is allocated, the Forest Service is required to establish a public process for selecting restoration projects. This helps to ensure a fair selection process. To date, that hasn’t occurred in the Pacific Northwest Region. Time is running out before existing funding is fully allocated.
