Help Ensure Old Growth Forests Have a Future

On Earth Day 2022, President Biden issued Executive Order 14072, “Strengthening the Nation’s Forests, Communities, and Local Economies,” directing federal agencies to enact policies that would ensure the future of America’s mature and old-growth forests.

In response, the Forest Service proposed a draft of the first-ever National Old Growth Amendment that will change all 128 forest land management plans across the country. But instead of truly protecting old growth forests, the Forest Service’s proposal falls far short.
