The federal government has failed to protect New Mexico's waters from toxic pollution from the oil and gas industry and Big Ag. To safeguard clean drinking water and the ecological health of our rivers, the state must take action.

New Mexico has allocated substantial funding to establish a new surface water protection program. But state regulators must now adopt new rules to preserve clean water, and the legislature needs to create a durable funding solution to ensure that clean water protection is not up for debate every legislative budgeting cycle.
