A Force for Nature

Say No to Harmful Water Diversions!

The once-mighty Rio Grande has been suffering under outdated water laws and infrastructure. With the added effects of climate change, we’re left with a drying – and dying – river. To save the Rio Grande, we need transformative water management.

Yet, water managers in New Mexico's Middle Rio Grande propose returning to a 1950s engineering idea, diverting natural flows into a 60-mile ditch called the low flow conveyance channel. This band-aid solution risks irreparable harm to the river and the ecosystem it supports, including species like the endangered Rio Grande silvery minnow.

Sign our petition to urge the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission to adopt sustainable, forward-thinking solutions instead!
